re online dating, what is it with cishet people and making it resemble the job application process? who has ever found a nice job that way and not through acquaintances/networking? does anyone actually believe that same approach will somehow work any better for finding partners??

i mean just think about it.

on one hand, you have women being very selective and having to reject most applicants, often because even the ones who aren’t legitimate creeps just do not even have the bare minimum of soft skills (stunted emotional development etc.). some get so many of them all the time it’s impossible to treat each one like a human being.

and on the other hand, you have men who keep getting ignored/rejected while nobody ever tells them what they could be doing better; who have to message dozens of potential matches to get one in-person interview and then pray they’re really gonna hear back in a week; whom the entire system is heavily rigged against because dating apps have a profit incentive and need everyone to remain single. like the many companies running fake job ads to put pressure on their employees by making them feel replaceable, dating platforms WILL bait them with everything they have.

like, fuck, y’all are using the internet all wrong. this isn’t just a void to scream into for attention; you can literally just cut out the middleman and open up to each other as cool internet friends before you even get into anyone’s DMs. be a person, not a persona. if there’s chemistry you will know. it’s not that hard.

Games that DLCs are a fantastic addition: Oxygen not included, Battle Brothers, Rimworld and the Last spell imo. As for games that feel incomplete without DLC, im sure everyone has smth in mind lol.

if you’re reluctant to really get into cooking proper meals for yourself, please just do it. it can be life-changing ESPECIALLY if you’re afraid of failure or you think you’re gonna suck at it or you don’t know why anyone would want to put up with you. trust me, no matter how clumsy and worthless you think you are, you WILL succeed and you WILL get better.

few things shut up a toxic inner critic like treating yourself to a tasty meal out of your own kitchen, and imagine the feeling of accomplishment and self-empowerment you get after finally proving that bastard wrong—even if reaching that milestone of personal growth may have taken you some trial and error. not to mention cooking for and with others. it’s the best.

there are almost no rules. the possibilities are endless. it takes so little experience to start changing up recipes and trying things you’ve never heard of but which seem crazy enough they might just work. you’re gonna be loading the oven with crêpes, of all things, stuffed with spinach and ricotta in a tomato-cheese-sauce, and all the doubters who have never cooked with any passion will look at that like 🤔, but you’ll already know it’s still the best thing they’re gonna have all week.

try to do it anyway, it’s often a better way to relax and take your mind off of things than rotting in front of a screen until you’re too exhausted to keep your eyes open. it’s also one of the very few things i managed to turn into a habit in spite of unmedicated ADD, simply because of how rewarding it is.
