One of the Windows 12 claims is that it would require an NPU with at least 40 TOPS. That would exclude every desktop processor except the AMD 300 series. Mobile devices with top of the line Lunar Lake or Snapdragon X processors could also run it.
Is Microsoft really going to abandon desktop as a target for Windows? Of course not.

Tbh PCWorld is generally rather credible in the space so I can get why people would believe the reports even though they are citing leaks and stuff in there. But this analaysis of windows central is rather interesting...
