I won't really comment further on the scabies stuff since medical stuff event-planning since I do not have the knowledge needed for that. i just know from reading up that a scabies test is way more difficult than say a covid test. So I cannot tell you how you could prevent this stuff.
Other than that I feel kinda sorry that you have to kinda keep your guard up even at c3. But yeah I guess the organizers are either not aware this an issue or are ignoring it. I would obviously go with the first asumption for now.
One would assume though that this stuff is handled differently in a community which is filled with many marginalized people. Or people who are just different.
its good to hear that you could find people you are comfy with though.
And there are other events that are also hacker-related but have a different smaller vibe as well. I did make my mind to visit eth0 next year since it seems rather comfy tbh. And my friends will be there as well making it more comfy even. I dunno if you were around there last year but I do remember some people of CCCHH were around last year.

@rick was auch immer ich heute gemacht hab. Es ist zumindest essbar aber kommt mir irgendwie mehr vor wie ein gefülltes Brot, anstatt Piroschki (ich kenn die eher gebraten in Öl aber ich bin mal dem Rezept gefolgt und hab sie im ofen gemacht)
Kartofffel ist fine tbh, nur hätte es wohl mehr füllung gebraucht oder me not being zu doof um die richtig zu füllen. Naja Kohl muss ich noch probieren aber sollten auch fine sein.

@rick Es ist immer lustig wenn ich was mit Teig mache.... Bei denen mit Kartoffelfüllung lief das Füllen relativ gut.
Bei den mit dem Kraut offenbart sich die mittlere Katastrophe xD. Das Kraut ist maybe bissle zu feucht gewesen. Das Füllen gestaltete sich eher schwer. Hab nur 3/5 geschafft, Die anderen einfach komische Klumpen lul.
Aber das gute ist Ich hab noch ne Menge Kraut übrig. Ist generell auch sehr lecker nur werd ich da sicher noch 2 Tage von essen xD.
Und bissle Kartoffelpüree kann ich auch nommen.
Gibt schlimmeres I guess. Bin mal gespannt wie mit Kartoffel gleich da rauskommen..,

@kura @rick @mametsuko @Fredddyyy I ordered up some urbandoo thingies. Maybe not as safe as a proper proper mask (although the claim with filter its as good as FFP2 as long as you use it correctly)

Its quite interesting that you write this about the scabies. I never even heard this being a problem or really being a thing.
I atleast had the image that the community was rather responsible with desease control. Though maybe thats a sample bias from my bubble?
Normal scabies should not be a problem really. scabies crustosa seems very different though
But if you have crustosa you should know really. And not be at congress at all. Though if its really a more widespread problem the orga should look into that more.
On the abusers
Why are there always people being shit to others in more niche. Cosplay/Anime Cons have that one as well.
But it should be easy right? You do stupid stuff you get booted for it. That would work for an ordinary visitor. But things get very messy when the structure itself is part of that. Like abuse is nothing you would really do as someone ordinary. You almost need a position of some power, so you could be an abuse dick. Or you are just a creep.
Normally moral and consequences should keep these incidents to a minimum. But if you don't have to fear anything surely it will happen. And then again.
I see how that could absolutely destroy the place you made your new home, sometimes even second family.
It would be very sad if that broke for someone because of systemic issues. Especially since chaos is mostly visited by people that are in some ways marginalized and not what society at large calls "normal"
