Games that DLCs are a fantastic addition: Oxygen not included, Battle Brothers, Rimworld and the Last spell imo. As for games that feel incomplete without DLC, im sure everyone has smth in mind lol.

Also special shoutout to Stardew and Celeste for making free DLCs lol

@quad wtf is that design? Never seen such idiotic thing. The hotels I used before had them outside the shower.

@quad @puniko good ol' brownie points I suppose? Though I have a hard time thinking about a game where it would not fit at all. After all they are fantasy worlds mostly... Maybe I am playing the wrong games?

But you can of course argue that shadow cabal existing, since the devs "chicken out" by forcing something into a game where it does not belong (in their view). They just don't want the shitstorm ensuing. There might be reasons to do so. But the devs would need to explain that very well to not be labeled bad or something worse.

@weebdeluxe If they play their cards correctly doing 2D and 3D sonic should be doable and valid

@weebdeluxe Great to see you enjoy some gaming ^^

also something is fun then it is fun. Regardless of what anyone says really. There are some Games people might call "mediocre" but for me they are really precious for other reasons. Sometimes just having strong fanservice can carry games *cough* Sword Art Online *cough*

I know the sonic fandom being rather negative which is sad to see. In another way I can also get behind it somewhat, just with an other series. Being pokemon. I adore the older games but am not much of fan of the 3D-stuff. They just dropped the ball so hard *for me*

I used to be more negative about newer games. By now I just accepted what the series is. I can still enjoy me some pokemon with many modern features with romhacks. So I just started to not care what Game freak does. Some people though really dig that 3D-Style which is also valid

I guess the sonic fandom is same as well? Am I mistaken or didn't also release some 2D-Sonic recently as well?

@puniko

I will just feel free to answer both posts here xD.

I did not so I just added that for myself tbh. Ye it sure is silly. They include these options to make people happy. Nothing more tbh. Especially in games where you have the freedom to do anything with it.

This is your rather typical behaviour in game communities. It allows people freedom. Which is great for the diverse crowd especially in RPGs, but it also opens the door for bigots ("good old times") where they (try?) to eradicate everything that does not fit their view.

And then stating being "apolitical" or "politics" does not belong to games. When it is a part of any medium tbh. Also unanswered: What do they consider political?

Likely everything. Feeling opprossed so hard by a minority that just wants to live their live normally.

I guess being "political" is just a neccisity in queer space otherwise you would just get drowned by "political" conservatives or sth. My guess would be all queers would just love to live their lives peacefully.

Also might gone a bit overboard puni, sorry neocat_woozy That fallacy is just way to common in gaming...

@stefan sharing your cooking with others, seeing it cheer up a partner or friend who hasn’t been doing well, making something together and screwing up, then trying to save it…

there are so many precious memories i wouldn’t have without it

@puniko So googling reveals DEI is Diversity, Equality and Inclusion. So I guess they are basically trying to shoot against the "forced" inclusion of divers people, disabled people and would not have black people and women?

I dunno what they want to say with "forced". No one forces anyone to do anything. Just have to live with the consequences. akko_shrug

There is plenty to like about divers representation in games. Like in Stardew Valley I can play a male character but dress them all female. Like you know a skirt and long hair. Which is so cool to me.

Also I don't think any of the inclusion is really forced. Its just the devs deciding to give divers people, divers options to play.

But I guess we are all just to left to understand.

@mia Cooking is such a valuable skill to have. There is many pretty simple dishes with not that many ingridients.

One of my favorites includes buckwheat with some meat, carrot and onion. Such a lovely taste and one of my confort foods.

Other easy stuff includes pasta in so many varieties lol. Pasta sauce can be so different depending on the veggies you put in.

Soup is also very easily done. Most is just cutting things and some water / spices. Good for cold days.

Cooking for other people is fun as well. I tend to also some a bit more complicated stuff on weekends. I did ramen once or twice. Set up broth from scratch and all that. But sharing the cooking and see others enjoy is yor_heart

TL;DR Pick up that cooking skill

@skadi @mia I might need to get into that soon enough as well. I do generally like cooking but stuff like cutting things takes quite some time (I am not that fast with cutting stuff)

I do enjoy cooking on weekends. I have time to do stuff there. Just sit down relax and make a nice meal. But I absolutely hate cooking when I am stressed due to time constraints. As soon as I move I will need to think about meal prep. So if you have any guidance to it let me know

if there’s one bit of cringy self-care advice i’m going to post in public scope, it’s this.

if you’re reluctant to really get into cooking proper meals for yourself, please just do it. it can be life-changing ESPECIALLY if you’re afraid of failure or you think you’re gonna suck at it or you don’t know why anyone would want to put up with you. trust me, no matter how clumsy and worthless you think you are, you WILL succeed and you WILL get better.

few things shut up a toxic inner critic like treating yourself to a tasty meal out of your own kitchen, and imagine the feeling of accomplishment and self-empowerment you get after finally proving that bastard wrong—even if reaching that milestone of personal growth may have taken you some trial and error. not to mention cooking for and with others. it’s the best.

there are almost no rules. the possibilities are endless. it takes so little experience to start changing up recipes and trying things you’ve never heard of but which seem crazy enough they might just work. you’re gonna be loading the oven with crêpes, of all things, stuffed with spinach and ricotta in a tomato-cheese-sauce, and all the doubters who have never cooked with any passion will look at that like 🤔, but you’ll already know it’s still the best thing they’re gonna have all week.

“but it’s such a drag when i’m already tired from work…”
try to do it anyway, it’s often a better way to relax and take your mind off of things than rotting in front of a screen until you’re too exhausted to keep your eyes open. it’s also one of the very few things i managed to turn into a habit in spite of unmedicated ADD, simply because of how rewarding it is.
