Can I rant a little bit please neocat_pleading

Why is design going to shit with companies.

You know I am in the market for a new Backpack. I dearly love my deuter Gigant backpack. But its start show its several years at this point. UV-Lighting wasn't nice it turning it brown over time. There are some holes here and there. I just want a new one.

Its actually the second one as well since my first one got stolen while I was doing Vacaytion...

So I thought why not go with Deuter again? They are durable and nice though maybe a bit pricey. But I never had a zipper break on me on that backpack. And it generally held up super well. Even though I use it daily.

I know I got the more boring design back then but they had cool options.

The new Gigant looks neat feature-wise. They made some nice improvement I think. But the new design is kinda lame.

First up their iconic logo changed. The double d logo was kinda neat since they could add a splash of different color it, also was actually stitched on. Now? Nope, hope you like boring flat logo!

The pack also looks less fun I think. Yes they have colors besides black (but I was not able to find the other colors yet for sale only black)

The green/gray one looks kinda fun. Also whats up with the Gigant SL (seemingly slightly older than the new one as it uses old logo) being marketed at women specifically? Its a pack. Atleast you get fun colors again.

I need to check what makes it specifically for women lol. It seems like the same pack to me...

God I hate fashion. Good I can just wear what I want and be fun and colorful blobfoxflowerhair

@volpi Also to you volpeon I generally like LanguageTool / WritingTool as an Aid (even without AI) It does explain stuff to you a lot of time and not only marks errors

You may need to weed out some unneccessary things in some style guides depending on context. Like stuff being "too casual" though I guess I could just deactivate that rule

@aetios I generally thought about it. I think its fine how it is. If you wanted the real deal it is availiable as an airsoft in that exact pink color. Though it is expensive and not really sold atm.

The only thing I would do to is to round the holes a bit and smooth them generally since the cut holes are not finished all too well. But that would invoke painting it since its white (acrylic? some plastic for sure) and painted pink. Have some pics of it. Generally its cool but could be improved.

Though you would not want something that looks tooo real since its illegal in germany to carry arms outside pr things that could be easily mistaken as such openly.

So it wont go to the con with me. Just for safety.

One could paint a P-chan Face onto it lol

Weee I finished my Cosplay, mostly. There are some accessories missing like the ammo-bags and some fur trim. I think it turned out quite even considering some mishaps along the way (like some holes being in places where they not belong, a button hole that is... there [not visiable most of the time ], also I really messed up the hem on the jacket so its a bit than intentioned. But since the jacket was longer anyway it worked out. Though both sites are not perfectly straight as a result. Managed to safe it atleast. I might add the fluff to get it straight again.

Lessons were learned for sure. But it looks good I think.

Have some photos. I will waffle about the whole thing in a blogpost. Lots to talk about ^^"

Sewing machine earned itself a headpat as well. Have you patted your servers today?!

@Carlos Ein paar Teile sind schon angesteckt. Man sollte das eigentlich nicht auf dem Boden machen weil net so ergonomisch aber ich hab sonst keinen Platz

@aks This is a lovely post. I guess some storytime from me is fine, right? neocat_cute

I totally get the struggle with the "hurry" though especially when you have some deadline in mind ypu wanted to hit. Like say some convention. I struggled there a bit as well.

Some context: I do like me some sewing recently since I decided to do some cosplay to a con. I dreamed of doing that for a bit I guess since it is a great way to show off as a (even female character)

Cosplay in question I finished a mock-up of last week for jacket and pants btw: https://akko.lightnovel-dungeon.de/notice/AsYestvDJPafsHC62y

I set my sights on after a con last year and began thinking about it in like november. I had a hat for that generally but wanted to make new one (the one shown in the post above). I decided on a lovely pink fabric (although kinda expensive) and then set off to buy and learn some stuff.

I generally knew the basics of sewing from a elective subject I choose in school. Made that hat once already so I was set there.

I learned to make that hat via a Youtube Tutorial which explained how to lay down the pattern but I had to do my own measurements and stuff. Laying down the whole pattern myself is above my skill level for sure though. The second hat turned out well even though there is some imperfections in it I love it dearly. And its also a 1 of 1 bespoke hat since every one you will make will be slightly different. And Certainly better looking than any store bought cos. My ears perk up so nice on that hat.

For the jacket and pants I opted to buy ready made patterns to learn from. I bought 4 in total. I learned from my hat its a good idea to make mock-up pieces from stuff to check fitment. I tried two (american) pattern and released with the pants they are nice but way to wide for my use on the legs.

The pattern from an european maker was way better in that regard. Learned a few things along the way as well. Had a very similar problem with the jacket

Its very important to take your time and read instructions carefully. Maybe try out some stuff before doing the real thing. Doing my Mock-up I realized that sewing in a zipper into pants is more difficult than I thought. So I had some mistake there. After trying again I got the hang of it I think.

I had some stress thinking I would not make it to June where the con is. Since I had "wasted" time with patterns that turned out being not right for me.

A friend told it is not that dim how I make it out. If rely needed I can make it for next year.

I am though pretty positive I can make it lol. Since everything is in order for the real deal.

In terms of drawing I don't see myself ever being that good. I would need to practice a lot.

I sometimes need some tokens for my TRPG-Sessions still. So I took a token a player drew, traced the head pattern and added stuff to it like horns, helmet or whatever. With solid colors and no shading but you could.

Also this reminds me of a VTuber who said she would be totally fine with *any* fanart. Be it even a stickman with blue hair lol. Since my drawing skills and I have seen the person behind the Vtuber in person I thought I would rather something physical and sewn instead.

Here is a small post about the mock piece: https://akko.lightnovel-dungeon.de/notice/ArabFkPtubI2JdXCLo

For this I basically traced a an image of the Vutuber and just thought How I may put it together. It took 3 tries to get it proper with a face stitched on. But she was very happy about the present. ^^

also attached my drawingskills xD Also I kinda got carried away writing this xD

Stuff is going well for on the cosplay-front. I have today finished the mock-up for the Jacket and bought some other bits and pieces this week. Looking swag I think though it is white and not pink but the fabric is here as well. So I can start doing the real deal next week. There was some stuff learned doing those mockups.
There is some stuff to improve but thats for the actual piece. It is very cool to see it together so much tbh.

Doing some cute, little silly things today. Once I get 2 of these ones done they will be gifted to a lovely couple, being Studio Haoto, that does artistry stuff together. Since the wife of the couple started V-Tubing I wanted to make a little something. She said on stream that you can send her any fan-art you like (even a stick-figure would be fine she said lol) I thought of something a little extra.

Since they are also based in germany I can send them stuff. So I thought put my sewing skills to the test and good use and send something sewn together of fabric scraps.

I figured out the basic shape by now which is cool. Though some hand-sewing will be required (closing the hole for filling it with a blind stitch) and embroidery will need to be done by hand as well. But it might be pretty cool still.
