Germans why do everything have gender

I drink masculine coffee in the masculine morning.

At feminine night i drink genderneutral water.

WHY

@aks it’s not actually known how the feminine developed in indogermanic languages, but it is thought to be a relatively recent development

so there used to be only two genders and female was not one of them
