The RX 9070 XT looks fantastic for $599, assuming it can actually be bought for that price.

@quad No better way to fulfill assume making an ass out of u and me than assuming a GPU will be sold at MSRP LIVE

@quad looks like a 30-50% improvement on the currently available 2500 PLN cards in Poland which are
*checks allegro*
3080 and 4070

If you're buying new, that is. A second-hand 3080 can be had much cheaper.

@wolf480pl In Norway a 3080 can no longer be had new. Price comparison sites give zero hits which are in stock or planned to restock.

On the used market the equivalent of ~1600 PLN can get you a 3080 where the listings clearly state it has been abused for mining.

Cheapest I can find which claims to not have been mined on is ~1850 PLN. But it's pick up only in some village with 5000 inhabitants.

Most of the stuff slightly above that has all kinds of weird waterblocks and shit on it.

In the end the cheapest used 3080 I can find which:
- Shows a real life photo of the product
- Hasn't been modded/waterblocked in some way
- At least doesn't admit to mining in desc
- Is willing to ship it
Costs 6500kr, or ~2300 PLN (Plus shipping)

So it looks like ~2300 PLN is the going rate for a non-sketchy listing of a used 3080 here.

@wolf480pl Comically enough if you want to buy a "used" GPU now one of the best options seems to be buying a 7900 XTX like I did. There's a shitload of new-in-box or "barely used" listings of 7900 XTX cards.

I paid 11499kr (after removing VAT and converting that's slightly over 800 USD).
But I can find the exact same card I have listed for 10990kr /w free shipping (in other words 500 NOK / 45 USD cheaper) as well as a bunch of other 7900 XTX cards around 10 000 NOK

Seems like a bunch of people bought the 7900 XTX like me when they emptied their stock in January. But now they regret their purchase so you can get a new-in-box or barely used 7900 XTX for 10 000kr (~730 USD with VAT removed for comparison, or ~3500 PLN without VAT removed)

Of course, on the used market you usually don't pay VAT anyways, but relative comparisons with US pricing and MSRP doesn't really work unless you remove VAT from the local price...

@quad tbh considering that you don't have weird online sellers that operate out of a basement and have 3 of something left in stock... this doesn't sound as bad as it could be

@wolf480pl forgot pics

and yes, many of the descriptions are filled with "trust me it's better than the upcoming 9070 xt plz buy :))))"

it's obviously people who bought them in january (probably received them in february) and want to flip them back out so they can buy a 9070 XT with the money instead. Of course pretty much all the listings were made in the past 2-3 days as well.

@wolf480pl As far as actually passable deals go, I found a 6700 XT for 3000kr (~1000 PLN)

That's probably about as good as it gets on Norway's used market. Decent deals can pop up, but they're few and far between

@quad AMD always manages to slam their dick in the car door when it comes to good GPUs

@mischievoustomato @sapphire at least this time they didn't do the <nvidia price> - $50. unfortunately they did it to their own 9070 XT instead. they're learning, but slowly

@quad wow, that's surprisingly close to how much these go for in Poland

@wolf480pl The difference is that in Poland you can probably regularly find them for this price. In Norway deals like this are rare. This listing is barely 48 hours old and will probably be gone soon.

Most other 6700 XT listings are 3500kr - 5000kr

@wolf480pl You can find good deals in Norway too. In fact very good, I haven't bought computer components, but i got my Mikrotik hAP lite for like 150kr.

The difference is that I can't "just buy a used one" in Norway. The stars have to align to find a deal. You can find a 6700 XT for 3000kr, but probably only for a couple of days per month

@quad damn it, I'm off by 500PLN because I underestimated the VAT (instead of actually calculating it)

@quad wait no it's worse than that

9070 XT MSRP + VAT would be ~2800 PLN

store price for partner models starts at 3400 PLN, so around 600 PLN, or $130+VAT, of a markup.

and of course the product is temporarly unavailable

@wolf480pl Hard to scour though shops in Norway, because the 9070 cards don't even seem to have been added to price comparison sites.

I can find plenty of 9070 cards, but basically no 9070 XT cards. Although every single store seems to list restocking ETAs for the 9070 XT in late March, so it's very likely Norway just didn't get 9070s in time for launch at all lmao. Classic Norway.

The only 9070 XT I can find in stock is one that most likely ships from Sweden. It's an OC model for 10 000 NOK.

9070s there appear to be plenty of and they sell typically anywhere between 8000 NOK and 10 000 NOK.

The cheapest 9070 I found in stock was only 7 789kr. Which after VAT removal and conversion lands at $575. (Barely above $549 MSRP)

So at least 9070 cards seem to be available here at MSRP. 9070 XT cards often aren't even listed or listed with restock ETAs late march, so maybe most XT cards just haven't reached Norway yet.

@wolf480pl So far 9070 supply and prices are looking mostly okay in Norway. Hopefully 9070 XT stock arrives and doesn't get priced horribly

@quad tbh. I'm surprised MSRP doesn't include some 10% or 20% US tariff...

@wolf480pl why would we pay US tarrifs here in Europe? I can't imagine they'd import the cards to the US and then ship them back out for any decent reason.

@wolf480pl Or do you mean you expected them to raise the price globally rather than just for the US?

Let's be honest GPUs probably have such fat profit margins (especially Nvidia) that they could probably just absorb the tariff for the US market if they felt like it.

@quad no.

I meant for them to use the US price as MSRP, and a lower price internally, so that evereyone else gets MSRP - UStariff + VAT

@wolf480pl Nah I'm pretty sure MSRP = Actual cost + US tariff, or the card is actually going to end up costing like $750 in the US and then they'll blame it on scalpers and tariffs.

I'll be honest I haven't yet gotten around to checking what the card actually goes for over in the US

@quad
I mean

if MSRP = US retail price
then $country retail price following manufacturer suggestion should be:
(MSRP - US tariff) * exchange rate + VAT

1

@quad
so it should be less than
600 USD * exchange rate + VAT
(or 550 in case of non-XT)

@wolf480pl What I'm saying is I think it's more likely that if MSRP is $600

Then $600 US price is $450 manufacturing cost + $150 tariffs

International $600 price is $450 manufacturing cost + $150 extra profits

OR

US price is in actuality end up being $600 + tariffs, and then the manufacturer will scream about that as loudly as possible (Because it's in every US company's best interest to get the public riled up towards reversing the tariffs because they definitely don't want to move manufacturing out of china)

@quad @wolf480pl The cheapest 9070 I could find on idealo (german price checking site) was like 729€ so yeah 🙄

Though the cheapest XT ist slightly above 800 kinda weird maybe as stock improves prices come down.

@quad @wolf480pl If you take out VAT (19% in germany) thats still ~620€ for 9070 and ~670€ for the XT
