wanted to replace the battery and micro USB connector in the xperia x i gave to lucy. the adhesive strips holding the battery tore off while pulling on them so i had no choice but to go at it with a plastic card + IPA

however the IPA also got on the display underneath so it’s all blotchy now. putting it in the filament dryer at 70°C for a couple hours, hope it’ll evaporate and no permanent damage was done

@mia grr. I get the frustration. I liked Xperias for a long time. They are nice phones But these batteries with their stupid connectors. I hate them with a passion.

@stefan the batteries and connectors are fine actually, and i’ve done this successfully before (including a display replacement) on a different xperia x.

this thing is probably just old enough that the adhesive strips have begun to break down, hence they tear so easily

i don’t know why they had to use adhesive when the batteries already have plastic parts on both ends, and there’s enough room to allow for fasteners…
