I guess with Cohost closing, I should really share my thoughts on the state of the Aniblogosphere and where is everyone. Yes, we are coming on two years after Twitter got bought over. Now, the landscape has started to change and the Japanese media fandom feels more fragmented as a result.

That said, I think self hosting your own space that you can control is the best path forward. After all, WordPress has ActivityPub support, which allows people to follow your blog and even comment on them like you would on sites like Tumblr. I have a good amount of success getting interactions and promoting my blog posts of the Fediverse. The ActivityPub plugin in general has improved quite a bit since I started using it. It's worth checking it out for something like a Cohost alternative for longer form posts.

@chikorita157 yeah the plugin refuses to work for rn but I am certainly missing something in the NGINX conf so it does not work or is missing. Might have to look at it another time though.

@chikorita157 I have no caching whatsoever enabled. Pretty sure there is some other issue with my webserver since I cannot find my users on the fedis still
