@fristi I have no proper experience with fedora and my dad doesn’t know anything about Linux. I was thinking maybe Ubuntu would be a safe bet and “beginner friendly” 🤔

@stefan neofox_angel well which one would you suggest? Keep in mind my dad has only basic computer knowledge.

@Johann150 @stefan kde plasma has a very straightforward interface that will feel familiar to windows users

so maybe kubuntu or also Linux mint with cinnamon might work for him

@Johann150 i honestly haven't had any troubles with the fedora kde spin. Things work, the discover program for installing software also just works.

The default gnome desktop is also a good option, but i find some of the default gnome apps a bit lackluster. But maybe that's actually easier, kde can be a bit overwhelming.

@aetios @stefan but KDE itself isn’t a full distribution right?

@Johann150 @stefan it's a desktop environment which I'd say is just as important as your distro

@Johann150 basically this. Depending on the PC and knowledge both are fine. Personally I would use Mint with Cinnamon. It has a nice look and feel for windows users and is not as customizable as KDE. KDE might feel a bit overwhelming for my tastes.

Mint and Cinnamon feels like the safe choice to me.
