100% touch interface
“We need to wait a few seconds until it’s booted”
@volpeon Touch interfaces are the worst unless way you’re doing is complicated, modal, and the settings are all tightly interrelated. I just can’t imagine a washing machine being that.
@Zulikath It’s useful to select options directly instead of cycling through them with a physical button, but they also changed the program selection wheel to a touch-based one and that just screamed awkward to me
@volpeon I always considered a knob to be pretty direct, unless it’s a rotary encoder that can’t handle a swift sweep to exactly what you wanted painted on the label behind it, in which case that’s the problem. Knobs > buttons > touch
@volpeon I want a washing machine that uses an actual Arduino with open source firmware and I'm not joking, I'd pay for that shit, I've actually considered building something myself or using a project like this one to revive/upgrade a second hand one: https://www.hackster.io/roni-bandini/dead-washing-machine-returns-to-life-with-arduino-mkr-81a970
