During the past year or so I've bought lots of games at launch price. Something I never really did before. But god damn it we finally have some good games again. Metaphor ReFantazio has been great so far, I finished the PC release of Rain Code as well, and now I bit the bullet on Dragon Ball Sparking Zero.

I've missed having good games so much. There was such a drought of not shit games from around 2018 to 2023 (Except some Nintendo titles). Japan had a pretty banger year in 2017 with games like Nier: Automata, Yakuza 0 and Tales of Berseria.

But after 2017 everything just kinda dipped and there was nothing but slop imo.

Until it finally picked back up last year with games like Baldur's Gate 3, Final Fantasy XVI and the PC port of Rift Apart.

Baldur's Gate 3 was the first game I bought at full price in at least 3-4 years.

Also I really wish they'd free Alan Wake II from the Epic Store. I pirated it, but forgot to backup my save before I wiped my drives and moved them into my new PC. So I lost my save file and I'm not gonna bother replaying it until I can buy it on a decent platform like GOG or Steam.

Even if some of the good games releasing aren't my cup of tea, I'm just glad to finally see the industry healing a little bit instead of only rolling downhill.

@quad Control got released on Steam a year or so after EGS, Alan Wake 2 has it's anniversary in 2 weeks, so maybe, maybe :)

@quad I bit that bullet on the lastest SAO-Game (Fractured Daydream) Its a nice fun game (and includes Chars from GGO, which I absolutely adore). Just Bandai being Bandai with their DLC-policy...

@stefan The games I've bitten at full price are FF XVI, BG3, Sparking Zero and Rain Code.

I think Rain Code is a very underrated title, anyone who was a fan of Danganronpa should play it imo

@quad I just wish the game would fir me more but Oh well. It had a story mode thats decently fun, athough in SAO-Game fashion it is rather non-sensical. It has an online-component I have yet to try but I am having fun shooting through hordes of monsters playing as LLENN and Fukaziroh blobcatjoy

The other Shooting Game (Fatal Bullet) I also have way to many hours in.

Though the new is an online Ko-Op thingie which well exists. My brother clearly already has problem filling a lobby with 20 people. You need a minimum 4 atleat rest is filled with AI if needed. You have to like you some grinding which I would not mind.

Though it does kinda want to playef more often having dailies and weeklies (Though you have 3 sets of weeklies so they don't rotate too fast). Season Pass is also a thing (not paid) Still kinda dislike this pressure that online games love to build...

Lets see how long this one will be kicking around...

@stefan I think I own a couple of SAO games, but I haven't played them that much. They've just been stuck in my backlog for way too long.
