@thibaultamartin@mamot.fr I was just thinking about this in bed last night, thinking how few reactions I get to any longer social media posts (mini-blog?) these days. But in the end it’s not the most important thing.

@thibaultamartin There is a truth in this. I have 2 Blogs at this moment. One which is theme-specific:

Light Novels. I love these japanese books very dearly. I like talking about. Telling people *why* I like something. If they ask me I can at it and say "wanna know why I love this? Here is a way to long article about this book". I do also like to write some articles on surrounding topics, I can also vent my frustrations with shit in a more meaningful way, like my disdain for the use of AI for subtitling anime. I can put stuff somewhere for other people to read and reference. niche stuff like rule-translations for a japanese TRPG.

That one now lives on a wiki and is used regularly.

I also have no clue how many people actually read the site. I specifically opted to not track that metric of site visits. I wanted something privacy-focused. Do I regret that sometimes? Kinda. But I don't need a cookie-banner as I do not track people which is a plus. It does leave me in a void where I want some acknowledgement for the work but there is no easy gratification like a big number. I do enjoy the process of writing mostly though so thats nice.

The other blog is a personal diary of sorts. Very seldom used. Mostly for venting some thoughts that don't belong to the other blog.
