@davidrevoy You are really on fire with critizizing stuff in your comics lately aren't you? akko_giggle

I love the 4-panel mini comic series. Easy to read but still full of meaning. Keep up the great work David. blobcatheart

@davidrevoy J'imagine que c'est ABSOLUMENT PAS inspiré d'un homme politique bien réel et que toute ressemblance est une pure coïncidence.😇

@stefan Thank you!

Yes, I'm fascinated by how versatile a short format like this can be, I enjoy maintaining it weekly while keeping the production of Pepper&Carrot episode 39 in background ☺️ I'll probably continue to distillate here and there my questioning and criticism this way. They travel way faster than any long blog post.

@davidrevoy I remember seeing a French comedian called Paul Cabannes talking about the time he met the Brazilian president and the French president at the G20 summit, and he wondered how presidents manage to stay sane when they're always surrounded by sycophants. I guess not all of them manage it, and neither do the billionaires.

As @pluralistic says, the billionaires aren't OK.

@ygor @davidrevoy @pluralistic

Perhaps this is the reason why money and power almost always seem to structurally delete morality from otherwise ordinary humans' brains.

@space_cadet @ygor @pluralistic Structurally delete or absent in the first place: that's something I'm curious about. (might be also both, not at the same time, but depending on the cases)

@davidrevoy I’ve been trying to understand your artistry, find an appropriate adjective. The closest I’ve come is “fuwa fuwa”. But there’s an exactness, a firmness, a palpable actuality almost as of a photograph. I wish I knew how you did this.

@shufei Thank you. I like the "fuwa fuwa" name 💜
About the photography and art-direction; it was my main work around 15 years ago. Painting over 3D renderings, color tweaking them to find the right ambiance, contrast and shading. I cannot say I was really good at this, but for sure it left me a little something I do try to put an extra care when I color my comics.

If you are curious about the process, here is a timelapse of the ~9h work for this strip:

@davidrevoy Simply astounding. Thank you heaps for this peek at process!

Your inner eye for 3 dimensions and soft lighting is quite apparent here, as even your initial sketches seem almost rendered perfectly in POV from the start. I bet you’re very good at 3D rotation puzzles.

Also, the way you work with layering and alpha is instructive. Would you please say, how many layers does this cartoon raw file have? Seems like… 2 dozen?

@shufei Thank you, and no, no super power for games with spatial problems to solve or pattern or color based. 😅

My layer stack is usually classic: one layer for the line-art (a temporary blue sketch under it) and then a painting pass on a flat layer under the lines. If you have Krita installed, you can check the layered full resolution files for the comics: I host them here https://www.peppercarrot.com/0_sources/miniFantasyTheater/zip/
