Twitter/Mastodon/Bluesky users be like

“Microblogging is so nice because it forces you to keep your posts short.”

“Oh and here’s this amazing possibility that lets you circumvent the character limit. (In some cases it’s built right into the UI!)”

@volpeon why keep posts short when you can just make dumb threads that don't work half the time instead?

@volpeon Honestly I think having a tiny character limit is kinda dumb.

@krutonium Fedi is the best proof that even without an effective character limit, people won’t suddenly turn into novelists who are unable to express themselves in under 50k words

@volpeon @krutonium Yeah. I sometimes have the desire to write longer vent-posts here as I don't wanna put those up in a blog. Voids can be nice to shout at sometimes. But tbh most posts easily will fit in 500 or 1000 characters. It just can be annoying when you want to write something slightly longer maybe.

Also there is still the option to CW long posts or something

@stefan @volpeon For sure, and most of the time when someone makes long venty posts, that's exactly what they do, CW it.
