hey fedi how often should i clean my bike chain!?

@mametsuko @dysfun Way too much Normally you don't need that much. Mostly you wanna clean it when its gets dirty. When it is full black goo you might wanna clean it.

Though how often will depend how much you ride it and where you are going through. 2-3 months seems fine

@mametsuko me, never having cleaned a bike chain in my life:

@mametsuko i lubricate mine whenever it starts to squeak. i also don't generally bother cleaning the chain unless it's really filthy

Technically you can do it after every ride.
But it is enough to only do it when the oil darkens , when there is dirt visible or when the chain makes noises.
Or if the bike was used during heavy rain fall.

And when you re oil, don’t use too much. A small drip is enough, per link.
