@lanodan @rick i dunno. i think it's more about the fact that a gif just plays frame by frame with each block of data being a dead simple diff to make a new "frame". there isn't even much progressive loading to be done.
compared to a video where you can pause it or rewind it, in the case of a gif you have to watch it slowly and excruciatingly play at like 0.1 fps until it's finally done a single loop
