I would’ve expected 4K PC monitors to be the default by now.
I bought my 4K display in 2016, so 9 years ago. In that same time span, I had gone from a 1024x768 CRT to a 1680x1050 display to a 1080p display. Why are we stagnating there? It’s making my life as an emoji designer unnecessarily difficult. woozy_baa

@volpeon Gaming I guess. Beefier displays needs beefier hardware. And with how much those cards cost now.... 1440p seems more the sweet spot anyway

Also I guess for everything else (like office and stuff) You just don't get much benefit from the extra pixels?

these reasons are made up of course. Its jusf because the industry wants to see you suffer neofox_devil

Also how exactly would that make your life easier. Bigger Emotes still would not be a thing

@stefan Using Mastodon on a 4K display with UI scaling set to 200% leads to emojis being rendered at 40x40 rather than 20x20. They aren’t larger, but you can see fine details which helps a lot with legibility.

@volpeon when its easier to get a 4k-Display than to convince Eugen to allow more fun.

Good morning Volpi

@volpeon but maybe if we pester Eugen enough with it custom and bigger emotes will come to mastodon. But only in a bespoke masto-only implementation
