German private bank charged me 1.50EUR for every transaction in Sweden tallying over 20EUR in fees,. as soon as we're back, I'll waste so much of someone's time, they'll give it all back aismug

@puniko @kaia I mean we are no better
but it seems like consumer pressure worked for once, like, the only fees we have is miniscule one for having the account or card and that’s only if you don’t spend like 70€ per month, and currency fees if applicable
and then the Internet situation

@jeder @kaia well in germany it really mostly boils down on how the cdu/csu dealt with the economy. they missed the opportunity to actually invest in things because they were so bloody focused on reducing the govs depts and this happend really over years and years. thats why the railroads are so out of date and in need to be overhauled. thats why the economy basically stagnated and is nowhere near as resilient as it could be in case of crises (see pandemic). if they would have invested despite of their dept, their economy would be much better off, let alone their infrastructure. but ye, they didn’t because “die schwarze null”

@kaia @jeder and of course the abysmal distribution of wealth is not really helping either

@kaia Sweden was in the EU right? (I always forgot which of the nordics is not) So they should only be allowed to charge the same rates as in germany. though I think currency conversion will be their "excuse"

@puniko @kaia we have abysmal distribution of wealth as well
railways are in state of disrepair because railway bosses on local level are still deep into the communist era where they didn’t do shit, and are underfunded, sure, mainlines are getting “good” as in barely 160km/h, but get out of the lines that were modernised in last 20 years and you end up on a diesel or electric line with no more than 50km/h speed limit
