The problem (for me as European) is that once you switch on the airco unit, you want it to run all the time. But your cultural conscience tells you that is an unacceptable waste of energy and you should know how to deal with heat waves without that modern stuff.

@jwildeboer Me: Has a Fan running (32W).

thats kinda wasteful...

But atleast it makes the 30°C feel more bearable in here.

@jwildeboer @rick To me, the realization is that if heating in winter isn't a waste of energy, then neither should be cooling in summer.

@Merovius @jwildeboer dunno, i also try to heat as less as possible in winter. Every heater ib my apartment is set to 18 degrees. Instead i put on a thicker pullover laughing_cirno

@Merovius @jwildeboer but tbh.. I recent years i actually start to think if this is really a good decision. I can save as much energy as i want, when others (rich ppl), just burn away the earth with thier privat jets and ki stuff neocat_sad

@rick @jwildeboer But you still do *some* heating. You don't have to cool down your place to 20°C, you can also cool it down to 30°C and sit around naked. To complete the analogy ^^

And… the unfortunate truth, I believe, is that while yes, the impact of billionaires is significantly larger and we need systemic solutions, doesn't mean our individual impacts don't still count. We need to get rid of the private jets/AI *and* minimize our personal impact to get there.
