hung up another light. I dunno I should like the "new" design of the connectors or not. I bought two laps from the same company. One at obi (likely older) is now in my kitchen. Great Like it much. It had the older screw connector. The new one I installed in the living room is from the company themselves. It has these newer connector which you push the clip, feed the wire in and then let go of the clip.

I found those kinda more finnicky tbh also the other end that goes into the lamp comes loose quite easily but can be stuck in the same way.

cc @ente Tell me what a dumb purchase I made lol

Also another pet pieve I have with modern design... Why are the wires not color coded as they should be. Blue for the live wire and brown for neutral...

@stefan Those “tool free” connectors are very common nowadays. biggest problem with those are the longevity. After using them three times they are prone to breaking and (as you just stated) the same clip opens up both sides of the connector, so it makes it finniky if you aren’t used to.

you could replace them with WAGO clamps but those are usually a little bit bigger, so they might won’t fit and they are quite expensive.

@Erpel Mine not like super broke or anything. Just pulling them off on that end is too easy. Just as you say it opens both sides so I could just get that other wire in again.

I considered Wagos they are like 0.50€ a pop which would be fine generally. But adding 1€ of connector to a 20€ Lamp I dunno. The 221-2411 might be toonlong though with 3cm almost.

tanya_sigh modern design is just infuriating.

Like the connectors on them are fine generally. There is no real load on them. The lamps are 30W at max. So it should be fine anyway.
