Can I rant a little bit please

Why is design going to shit with companies.

You know I am in the market for a new Backpack. I dearly love my deuter Gigant backpack. But its start show its several years at this point. UV-Lighting wasn't nice it turning it brown over time. There are some holes here and there. I just want a new one.

Its actually the second one as well since my first one got stolen while I was doing Vacaytion...

So I thought why not go with Deuter again? They are durable and nice though maybe a bit pricey. But I never had a zipper break on me on that backpack. And it generally held up super well. Even though I use it daily.

I know I got the more boring design back then but they had cool options.

The new Gigant looks neat feature-wise. They made some nice improvement I think. But the new design is kinda lame.

First up their iconic logo changed. The double d logo was kinda neat since they could add a splash of different color it, also was actually stitched on. Now? Nope, hope you like boring flat logo!

The pack also looks less fun I think. Yes they have colors besides black (but I was not able to find the other colors yet for sale only black)

The green/gray one looks kinda fun. Also whats up with the Gigant SL (seemingly slightly older than the new one as it uses old logo) being marketed at women specifically? Its a pack. Atleast you get fun colors again.

I need to check what makes it specifically for women lol. It seems like the same pack to me...

God I hate fashion. Good I can just wear what I want and be fun and colorful

Uhuh. I can see on the photos the back design is different. The airstripes are closer each other. Likely to accomodate women being more slender in the back / Shoulder areas. So likely not a good fit for me

@stefan i don't know precisely why but there is some corpo who keeps deleting all the cool logos and typography in their merger-acquisitions obsessions.

@icedquinn the new logo kinda looks way more bland for sure....

the smaller Deuter Giga comes in more fun colors but is also slightly smaller. 28L instead of 32L. Might be good enough. Good enough for everyday for sure.

I do like that green one. I would have loved the bigger one in that color

@stefan i think the main difference for women specific packpacks is u dont have the fasteners on your boobs. when i give my backpack to a woman they usually complain about that. though this isnt true for every woman and depends on their specific proportions and sensitivities.

but it makes sense to offer something which wasnt just tested on males (which is sadly the default)

I mean I am all for offering that for sure. They also have a longer version (EL) for taller people as well. Sadly they just don't offer the bigger Gigant in other colors right now. The smaller (28L vs. 32L) Giga is availiable in a lot of colors. So I am contemplating.

I have decided to take the bigger which sadly only is really availiable in black. Guess gotta make it my own with all the buttons and straps like I did with my current one. It just makes no real sense to buy a smaller one for me. Sometimes its nice to have the extra space since I use my pack for literally everything lol.

Kinda sad the other colors are nowhere to be find.

insect style sounds very interesting, but my friend told me that my animal totem would be a pony, so it doesnt fit for me.
do you usually put a lot of weights ? did you had trouble with shoulder pain or similar ?

@ouroukaye @stefan i usually carry more than 5kg around. laptop, drinks, sport stuff or groceries.

i do have trouble every now and than with shoulder pain but less than before this backpack. though working out also did help a great deal
