I always thought my English ist pretty good. But now that I've I started reading pretty advanced math stuff in English, I only really understand it once I've written it down in German.
And that kinda bothers me.

@Fredddyyy Well I mean "normal" is kinda different from "academic" english. I experience the stuff with legal texts though so no worry.

@Fredddyyy maths is a different skill set to language. You probably learned maths in German, and so you possibly subconsciously need to translate those concepts back into German in order to have fluid access to them.

The good news is that the more you practice maths in English, both reading and writing, the easier it will come to you.

If it makes you feel any better, I learned most of my accountancy terms and concepts in Spanish in my late 20s and 30s, and despite having had an English education and it being one of my native tongues, I find it easier to think accounting in Spanish, even when dealing with English speaking situations.
