🙄 swtich is literally the only console in 20 years to have stick drift and ppl losing their mind that the switch 2 doesnt have hall effect sensors (btw they are magnetic and affected by strong magnets, where are those used again, oh wait)

@rick

hall effect sensors use changes in the magnetic field to detect movement. However the switch 2 joycons use magnets (strong magnets) to attach to the console, therefore the magnetic field around these sticks changes quite drastically.

@rick Anyway, I think we should wait and see. Waiting and seeing is literally free

@aetios there is to be hoped that ninty maybe learned from mistakes. I will wait and see since I have no stackes in that game anyway. They could though not have used magnets to attach joycons and used better sticks instead.

But capitalism gotta capitalism

@stefan I think magnets are a great solution tbf... extremelty sturdy and durable solution

@aetios Sturdiness won't help if the sticks drift blobcatwinktongue Genuienly its a nice idea (copied from other handhelds but whatever). There is the hope they used better sticks this time atleast.

@stefan yeah but i wasnt too happy about the rails on the switch either, its an issue less talked about but also a big deal. if your switch fell on the rails, they could break off. now i guess the joycon swill won't like it but not break.

as for the sticks, it was a pretty big thing, nintendo offered free repairs and apologised for it. i would be surprised if they didn't think to address this.

@aetios But it took way to longnto even acknowledge its a problem. But hey they did the right thing. Thats good.

Also its maybe a thing priorities. Rails break sure but what broke more often. Sticks or rails? I would go with sticks. So that should have been the first thing to fix....

But magnets are flashier and marketable

@stefan I just think it's too early to assume they have not fixed it... let's wait for the teardown on launch day...

@aetios Normal sticks will have drift eventually. Every one of them has. But the switch had a smaller variety so they drift waaaay sooner. Lets hope they did something about it (like that repair program aint cheap, something must have happened)

Will be interesting to maybe some simulated age testing witz the sticks to see when they might fail nkoThink
