@makuru the entier system lives on sda1. no clue what sda2 is used for. its not mounted or anything. and swap at the end always sucks

@flandrescarlet @puniko @makuru the heads have to fly that much further to read or write data. 20 years ago this would impart noticeable latency to your system. nowadays i suggest running zram if your only option for swap is spinning rust.

in fact, i still suggest zram unless your use case precludes it somehow.

but if you’re stuck with mechanical drives and zram isn’t appropriate, putting swap in to a shared LVM VG (like the same one that holds /) will greatly improve access time, too.
