@fabos I like all powerCON variants, but the standrad ones (without the extra locking mechanism) and the bayonet is really nice

@Erpel Looked at those things just. You will tear off the wall before that one comes accidently unplugged. Those are used in industrial stuff I presume?

@stefan Yes. It’s proprietary industrial grade stuff.
As an replacement for C13 plugs (known in German as “Kaltgerätestecker”)

It has high reliabilty, heavy duty use, plugable under load and is way too much for any home appliance.
But this is just fun to use because of how beefy they are.

@Erpel … it is often a question of budget? Neutrik are cool and sturdy but… yeah, expensive. bugcat_nod

@kate Educational departments are always asked to be as cheap as possible

@Erpel ..I sometimes resorted due to this to buy little items using my own pocket money… instead of begging and bribing and bullying the upper ranks I simply bought a hand full of diodes…. that way my experiments worked faster and were more satisfying. Not that I had the money to afford that on a bigger scale though…

@kate “Everday” items like diodes are not the problem. I can order big quantities of those without a problem.

The problem comes when there are cheaper alternatives.
E.g. those neutrik plugs have a chaper C13 or Schuko alternative. I don’t really need them…
