for the exact issue i don't use discord.. i used it for 2-3 months and than deleted my account again. I got the same experience as you with the chat.. especially in bigger communities..
its shit too keep up, cause of all that chatting.. and you miss important stuff cause of all that chatting.. ich hate it soooo much

@volpeon also yeah, fedi is the same.. i use fedi more as an chat, to shout stuff into the void.. if i find an interesting thread i try to book markit, so i can find it again (like this XD), but i do miss forums.. there are some yeah.. but yeah sadly there aren't as much as there used to be
