Bonus points if the party who threw the protagonist out is unreasonably malicious and stupid for no reason

I mean it can be nice if done well but mostly it aint

and it's never a clever like "oh this seemingly useless skill has some clever applications" it's always something where "why would anyone think this is useless?? and also why are they bullying the mc over it?"

They were smug-faced, arrogant and violent. Now we only need to see them again a few episodes later, struggling and not understanding why while remaining arrogant assholes, and that box can be ticked.

I swear this trope feels like the author wants to fantasize about revenge on people who treated them poorly.

@volpeon We have got a revenge Plot at home called Redo of Healer. But yeah these shows often go that way. Like how dense are these idiots to not notice the work the kicked out person was doing. They regret hard and fast mostly
