I should really just self-host something for music streaming.

But all the music streaming servers out there like ampache and funkwhale are so pointlessly heavy just to stream my music.

Subsonic went closed and died while forks like airsonic also died.

It's at the point where I'm considering just setting up Jellyfin instead and then only use it for music streaming

@stefan It does? Might be easier to just set that up then, because Jellyfin isn't exactly the lightest thing either, just easier to run.

@quad a so basic lol: https://apps.nextcloud.com/apps/music It does support protocols like Subsonic and Ampache so you can stream to devices

@stefan might as well set it up then. if it lets me host my music files easily and play them on my phone that's pretty much all i need

@quad though I see that the app linked is only a player. The setup relies on NC for storage and Ampache or Subsonic for streaming (installed seperate)

@stefan well yeah i know it's an NC plugin. if it needs me to install ampache or subsonic then it's moot, but the way i read the description it implements their protocols and replaces them

@quad Oh I am sorry than I might have misread. Good to know thanks for the correction then.

"Includes a server backend compatible with the Subsonic and Ampache protocols, allowing playback and browsing of your library on various external apps e.g. on Android or iPhone"

Thats very clear I guess neocat_sweat
